My next 3 guests on the Democracy OTL podcast...maybe the 4th could be you!
Here's how to contact me to pitch your guest interview
I am excited to add regular podcast interviews to Democracy OTL. I have 3 upcoming guests who I am really looking forward to speaking with:
Filmmaker Deborah Riley Draper, of Olympic Pride, American Prejudice fame, and more. I am an Executive Producer of this documentary that tells the story of the 18 African-American athletes who represented the USA at the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin. Right now, it could not be more timely!
North Carolina State Representative Graig Meyer, who is now a candidate for North Carolina State Senate.
Progressive activist and “Nonprofit Fixer” Sean Kofovsky, on how to create successful social change.
I envision a show where about half of my guests are candidates currently running for elected office, since we are in a crucial election year. The other half will be artists, authors, experts from any field related to protecting democracy.
If you would like to be considered as a guest on the podcast, please send a brief, interesting pitch email to me at: democracyotl@gmail.com
Please look at the post of my first podcast interview, with candidate Jonah Garson, and send me about that much information. Imagine that I am writing a post about YOUR interview—what would it say?
You need two things to be a good podcast guest: solid, actionable information, and the ability to tell an engaging story. So please send me a pitch as though you want to be invited to a cool dinner party. I would prefer to receive a personally-written 2 paragraph pitch, rather than a long generic press release. I prefer to hear directly from potential guests, but I will also consider pitches from media professionals as well who are representing their clients. Please do NOT add my email address to any distribution lists or newsletters of any kind—that will result in a block. (I am trying to keep email manageable, and it is a losing battle!)
I firmly believe we each have something important to contribute toward protecting democracy, so I will entertain guests from any walk of life. A successful pitch will make it clear how your work relates to protecting civil society. Please listen to my upcoming interview with Deborah Riley Draper as an example of how an artist’s work gives us critical information about our country’s past, present, and potential future paths. Her work making historical documentary films is extremely relevant to our current situation, and her interview promises to be fascinating and enlightening!
Check back in next week for that podcast interview, right here on the Democracy OTL Substack. Thanks for listening!
